NYKSYPL is happy to announce that soon all MAC users will be able to receive and place all their phone calls using Microsoft Teams (on your PC or mobile device). This system will replace the current Cisco Jabber system.

Calls to/from the outside will be placed/received using Teams, just like it’s currently done for internal Marubeni calls. Your current phone number will not change.

how to login to ms teams?

To login to Teams, enter your userID as <your VDI login ID>@jpn.marubeni.com and click Sign-in. On the next login screen, enter your Email/VDI login password and click Sign-in.

what are teams?

Teams are a collection of people, content, and tools surrounding different projects and outcomes within an organization. A team is designed to bring together a group of people that work closely to get things done. Conversations, files and notes across team channels are only visible to members of the team.

Do i need to uninstall skype for business mobile app myself after i install teams app?

No, you do not need to uninstall Skype for Business.

From the teams pc app, i can see various apps in the add app option but the install button is grayed out. which apps are allowed and available to install?

The PC version additional app function is limited to MS products only. “RSS” is the only external app allowed. Everything that is displayed below are apps already installed and available.

teams is not running. how can i start it?

Click Windows logo > Scroll down to Microsoft Teams. Or click Search > type Teams in the search field > Click Teams from the search results.

How do i log out of teams?

To log out of Microsoft Teams, click your profile picture at the top right corner of the app, then click Sign out.

what are channels?

Channels are dedicated sections within a team to keep conversions organized by specific topics, projects, disciplines—whatever works for your team! Channels are most valuable when extended with apps that include tabs, connectors, and bots that increase their value to the members of the team.

what’s the difference between a team and a channel?

A team is a group of people gathered to get something big done in your organization. Teams are made up of channels, which are conversations you have with your teammates. Each channel is dedicated to a specific topic, department, or project.

what happens when i create a new team?

For every team, a team site is created on SharePoint Online. Each channel is a team gets a folder within the default team site document library.

can the team members leave the team on their own?

Yes. Any member can leave the team at any time.

what are connectors and how do i use them?

Connectors are online apps, tools and services that can be hooked up to your channel. Integrate these external services which your needs regularly to receive relevant updates within your Teams Channel.

what does it mean to be @mentioned?

An @mention is like a gently tap on your shoulder-a way to get your attention in a channel conversation or chat. When someone @mentions you, you get a notification in your Activity feed, and you also see a number next to the channel or chat you were @mentioned in.

how do i add a team member?

If you’re a team owner, go to the team name and click More Options … > Add members.

how do i start a private chat?

To send a private message, first click New Chat at the top of the app to start a new conversation. Type the name of the person or people you want to chat with in the To field. Then, compose your message and click Send.

Can i delete an old chat?

Yes. Hover over the chat you want to delete. Click on the 3 dots and click delete.

how can i turn a conversation into a call?

Select the phone icon or camera icon to turn the chat into an audio call or video call.

how can i share a file on a chat?

  1. Select the paperclip icon in the Type a new message box.

  2. Select the file you wish to share.

Who can add members to a team?

Team owners can add members as well as making existing members owners.

who can invite others to join a team?

Team owners.

can users view my private chat?

No, Teams private chat history is stored in a hidden file and cannot be accessed directly by users or administrators.

how can i rearrange my contacts in teams?

This feature is currently not available for contacts. You can however, rearrange your Teams. To reorder your teams, select Teams  , then click and drag the team name anywhere in your teams list.

HOW TO CHANGE DISPLAY LANGUAGE IN MICROSOFT TEAMS

Microsoft Teams will attempt to automatically detect the language of your browser or operating system where possible. Where Teams doesn’t support the same language, it will default to either a related language or English.


ADD VIRTUAL BACKGROUND FOR A TEAMS MEETING

When you are on a Teams video call meeting, you might not want others see what’s happening in your background. Microsoft Teams has a feature to either blur or use virtual background to hide what is going on in your actual background. Here’s how to add virtual background.

To change your background before a meeting:

  1. Before you join or start a meeting, select Background filters right of the camera switch.


  1. Background settings panel will pop-up on the right like below. Select top-middle option to blur your background, and click Join now button at bottom left.
  2. You can also replace your background with one of the images provided in the pane. Click the background of your choice, and click Join now button at bottom left.
  1. To turn off background effects, select: None then, Join now button at bottom left.


To change your background during a meeting:

  1. Click the three-dot menu icon "...", and then select Video effects and settings to open the Background Settings panel.
  1. Select Blur to blur your background, or choose from the available images to replace it. Click Apply.

USING WHITEBOARD IN A TEAMS MEETING

Each Teams meeting has a dedicated whiteboard feature where participants can collaborate together on a shared digital canvas. Whiteboard can be edited by multiple people at the same time, providing great option for brainstorming ideas with attendees during the meeting.

To use Whiteboard during meeting:

  • After joining a Teams meeting, click the Share icon in the share tray of that meeting.

  • In the Whiteboard section, select Microsoft Whiteboard.

  • As soon as the Whiteboard is loaded, Teams meeting attendees will be able to write on it.

To begin, click one of the drawing/edit tools icons (Pen, Text box, Sticky Note).

To stop using whiteboard before your meeting ends, move your cursor towards bottom of Teams window to show options, and click Stop presenting button.

  • After a Teams meeting, its whiteboard will be available to all participants from the Teams meeting chat, in a tab labeled Whiteboard.
