Crumbs in Your Keyboard?
Not only spam emails but your keyboards need to be “quarantined” and “cleaned”
It is great if you can touch type. But please take a moment to take a look at your keyboard.
Are there rice crackers or bread crumbs between the keys? Or pieces of chocolate and sticky crumbs all over the keyboard that looks like cookie dough?
We share the habit of eating while working on the computer, so you may be reading this during your lunch break while enjoying your Bento Box at your desk, but most of the dust in your keyboard is caused by you with crumbs that encourage the growth of bacteria.
One shocking fact is that…
Keyboards are dirtier than toilet seats!!!
Scientists tell us that we are exposed to 4 hundred times more microbes in our keyboards than there are on toilet seats.
There are actually 3 places in the office that have more germs per square inch than a toilet seat.
YES, your keyboard is one of them! What the other 2 !? Are they Headphones or the bottom of a bag?
Not wrong, but not right.
Please contact the HELPDESK at 212-450-0694 or email us at helpdesk@marubeni.com if you would like to know the answer.
(Whatever! Mouse and Phone are the other 2!)
Tips on How to Clean the Keyboard Properly
Just follow these simple steps:
1. Unplug the keyboard (*take out any batteries if it’s battery-powered)
For Laptop: Turn off the PC, unplug it and remove the battery
2. Turn your keyboard upside down and gently shake up a few times to dislodge crumbs.
3. Take a can of compressed air (available online or any computer/office supply store) and spray the air between the keys.
4. Wipe the surfaces of the keys with a damp cloth and some diluted washing-up liquid (*Don't use a too wet cloth to wipe the keyboard. Make sure that water drops don't fall on the keyboard!) . Then dry them with another soft cloth.
5. You could also use the dusting brush, or a soft-bristled paintbrush, to reach stubborn stuff.
